In recent days, the call to Flamengo fans has been made by players and coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo. With five rounds remaining in the Brazilian Championship, the support of the Nation is considered fundamental by everyone. And this Sunday (November 07.11th), the fans have another mission: to support the team against Atlético-PR, at 19:30 pm, at the Raulino de Oliveira Stadium, in Volta Redonda.
The call comes from striker Val Baiano. The center forward says that Flamengo never plays well away from home and that the motivation coming from the stands makes all the difference. For him, the Estádio da Cidadania is also a home for the Flamengo fans.
"Flamengo never plays away from home; wherever they go, the stadium is always full. It's good here; the pitch puts a certain amount of pressure on the opponent. It's not like the Maracanã, but this is our home too. We hope to embrace the stadium and achieve good results here," he requested.
Val praised the fans' behavior in Volta Redonda and also the work of coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo, who made his debut precisely in Volta Redonda, and with a victory.
"It's no coincidence that Flamengo chose to play here. Besides being closer to Rio, there are fans who have noticed the change in the team's attitude. With the arrival of the coach, the fans started to help us. The team has improved and hasn't lost yet," he explained.
With 40 points, Flamengo occupies thirteenth place in the Brasileirão standings and is looking to distance itself further from the relegation zone and secure a spot in the 2011 Copa Sudamericana. Atlético-PR, on the other hand, has 50 points, is ninth, and dreams of a place in the Libertadores.
