Before training on Tuesday, the Flamengo players went to the Church of Saint Jude Thaddeus (the club's patron saint) in Cosme Velho to give thanks for the Carioca title and ask for protection in upcoming matches. All the players in the squad participated in a ceremony in which Father Valdir Lima blessed a Flamengo jersey.

"We didn't go to church to ask for qualification. We're thankful for all the good things that happened to us this year," recalls midfielder Claiton.
