Smiles, good humor, and a lot of dedication. With these skills, defender David has earned his place in the Flamengo team and will play another decisive match this Wednesday (April 21.04). The young defender replaced Álvaro in the Taça Rio final against Botafogo, performed well, and hopes to repeat his strong performance against Caracas later this year.
Always smiling, the player, who scored one of the goals in the 2-1 victory over Grêmio in the last round of the 2009 Brazilian Championship, does not hide his happiness at playing in yet another important match for Flamengo.
"I'm very happy to have this opportunity to play in a decisive match for Flamengo and I can only say that I intend to do my best to help the team achieve victory, which is essential for us," he said.
David believes the team has a chance of winning the Libertadores title, which is considered the most important competition of the year for the red-black squad.
"Qualifying means everything is over. We're going after that title, which is our goal. We want to reach that final, get the fans on our side. It's an important tournament for the club and for us too. We know the difficulties, but we're going for it," he noted.
Resilience - The stitches David received in his mouth in the play in which Vagner Love scored the red-black goal in the Taça Rio final, against Botafogo, are still bothersome, but nothing that takes away the number 14's motivation.
"It's a bit annoying, yes, sometimes when eating and talking, but nothing that will get in the way of the game. I'll have to overcome this, just as other players will have to overcome themselves, each one a little bit, so we can win. The word is this: overcoming. Now there are no excuses, there's nothing to say, just go out on the field and give your all to get the win," he analyzed.
The defender hopes that the Red-Black Nation, with whom he has a great relationship, will show up in force at Maracanã this Wednesday to help the team in this difficult mission.
"I believe the fans will show up and support us. They are always by our side and this time will be no different," he added.
