With 20 points, Flamengo has already moved up to seventh place in the Brasileirão and is just one point behind Ceará, which has 21 and is in fourth place. The red-and-blacks' goal is to reach the top four as quickly as possible, and therefore, the victory against the Ceará team was crucial. In a direct confrontation, the team from Gávea emerged victorious and took an important step toward returning to the qualifying zone for the 2011 Copa Libertadores.

Midfielder Willians, one of the standout players in last Saturday's match (August 14.08), celebrated the victory. Happy with the result, he believes the team will continue to improve as the championship progresses.

"Thank God, here at Maracanã, we managed to win. It wasn't the way it had to be, but the three points are the most important thing for us. I will continue working to help Flamengo achieve victories whenever possible," he said.

According to the number 8, Flamengo's goal is to fight for a spot among the top teams. And one of the red-and-blacks' weapons to secure this spot is determination.

"We knew our goal was to win today and close in on the leaders. We entered the field with a lot of energy and joy, and we knew that to beat Flamengo, Ceará would have to be more determined than us," he concluded.
