Players ask for fans' support in Thursday's match at Maracanã

Flamengo wants to take the field this Thursday (August 26.08th) at Maracanã with one more player than Atlético Mineiro. In addition to the 11 on the field, the Rubro-Negro hopes to count on its number 12, the fans, in the stands. As the stadium is undergoing renovations for the 2014 World Cup, almost 40 tickets have been put on sale and the athletes expect a full house.
Recently signed by Flamengo, supporter Renato will play his second game at the stadium since returning to Gávea. Deeply identified with the club and its fans, he's asking for the nation's support in his quest for another victory, similar to what happened against Ceará.
"The fans are always important. Even with last Sunday's defeat, at Maracanã we'll count on the support of the fans to help us seek another victory. We can't dwell on what happened. We have to keep going. Everyone felt the loss, but Flamengo is bigger than that, and I'm sure the fans will show up and cheer us on until the end," he said.
Another of the idols of the current Flamengo squad, defender Ronaldo Angelim, who scored the goal that gave Flamengo the Brazilian title last year, also highlighted the importance of the fans' support and promised to respond with great dedication on the field.
"The fans are essential. The championship is difficult and they have to believe, support, and on the field we will do our part, try to play a good game to get the victory," he added.
