The new face of Flamengo for the coming seasons

Throughout its history, Flamengo has always been known for producing stars at home. And this commitment will be taken very seriously in the coming seasons. While the players trained in the club's youth academy were already well-received in 2010, this trend is expected to continue even more consistently in the coming years. With this in mind, Flamengo has already been extending the contracts of its top prospects.
Recently, Diego Mauricio and Negueba, who stood out in the final stretch of the 2010 Brasileirão, renewed their contracts until 2015. Young Saba, who was part of the professional squad for much of the season, also signed for another five seasons. Welinton, who earned a starting spot with the arrival of Vanderlei Luxemburg, has a contract until 2014.
"It's really important to have the peace of mind of a five-year contract, because our lives are very unstable, especially at our age, where we don't have many career definitions yet. This way, you can work more calmly and end up developing with greater quality. Not to mention the appreciation given by the club, which leaves you with much higher morale," said Saba, who made his professional debut in 2010 and wants to establish himself in 2011.
Midfielder Camacho, loaned to Goiás in the second half of last year, signed a contract until 2013, as did goalkeeper Paulo Victor. Full-backs Jorbison and Galhardo, as well as goalkeeper Marcelo Lomba, are with Flamengo until 2012. But it's not just the players already on the first team that Flamengo is concerned about.
Players who have excelled in the youth teams are also being rewarded for their success. Midfielders Luis Antônio and João Vitor have contracts until 2012, as does defender Marllon, all from the youth team. The youth team, the Rio de Janeiro champions, also has long-term contracts: Adryan, until 2013, and Lorran and Thomas, until 2012.
