Volta Redonda (RJ) – Flamengo's three days in Volta Redonda may be just another part of the routine for several players on the team. Another important commitment, it's true, but for them, this is already normal. For Marlon, however, this period will be unforgettable.
At 18 years old, the young defender, who was signed from Cruzeiro to join Flamengo's youth team, has his first opportunity to be included in the squad for a professional match. A golden opportunity for the boy, who had been excelling in youth competitions.
"I was very happy. I was even surprised when the junior team coach called me and said I would be traveling with the professional team. It's a great opportunity and now it's about continuing to work so that more chances like this come along," he said.
And Marlon's first chance comes precisely in the debut of the new coach, Vanderlei Luxemburgo, in a crucial match for Flamengo in the Brazilian Championship, against Atlético-GO, at the Raulino de Oliveira stadium. Therefore, if he ends up having to play, he hopes to leave a good impression.
"It's very important for my career to have this opportunity. In the short time I've had with Vanderlei, I've already seen how experienced he is in football and how much he can pass that on to us, especially the younger players. If I need to play, I will certainly do my best to help the team and leave a good impression," he added.
