Adriano: “I’m very happy to be here”
Imperador, who worked on his muscles and then ran around the pitch, believes he will be ready to play in 15 days.
By Flamengo Archive - inStriker Adriano, Flamengo's new signing for the 2009 season, worked on his fitness during this morning's training session at Gávea. The Emperor worked out in the gym, ran laps on the pitch, and finished with sit-ups. After the training session, Adriano gave his first press conference in the Marilene Dabus Press Room and said he was at 20% of his ideal physical capacity.
"Physically, I'm at 20% of my capacity. I still have a long way to go. A full-time training plan was made, and I accepted because I really want to help Flamengo. I'm overweight, but not as much as people say. We'll take it easy. I believe I'll be fit enough to play in 15 days."
Adriano said he feels at home in Gávea, where he was discovered for football.
"I'm very happy to be here, with the people who watched me grow up. It really helps me do my job well. There's no reason not to smile. Flamengo had and still has many idols. I come here to be one of them. The affection is immense here and abroad. People congratulate me and encourage me. I have to dedicate myself to being an example to them, since many children look up to me as an idol."
The forward did not rule out the possibility of joining the Flamengo delegation in Porto Alegre. Flamengo faces Inter on Wednesday in the Copa do Brasil.
"I want to go and support the team. I'm really rooting for Flamengo to qualify. I really want to play in this competition and help Flamengo in their fight for the title."
