After Friday afternoon's tactical training session at the Ninho do Urubu Training Center, striker Adriano spoke about his expectations for Sunday's decisive derby against Botafogo at the Engenhão stadium. According to the Gávea number 10, a victory in the match could definitively put the red-and-black team in contention for a sixth national title.
"We were happy with Palmeiras' defeat. It increases our motivation even more, but our goal remains the top four. If we beat Botafogo, we can aim higher, but there's still a long way to go. First, we have to focus on the top four, taking one step at a time and keeping our feet on the ground. I feel the group is very motivated and focused on achieving our goal. It will be a tough, difficult derby, as Botafogo is growing in performance and deserves all our respect."
Top scorer in the Brazilian Championship, Adriano said he is living a special moment in his career.
"Since I arrived here, the fans have been supporting me. The affection and support I receive on the streets is priceless. I'm living a special moment and I'm very motivated for Sunday's derby."
