In the decade, Imperador only scored fewer goals in one year than Edílson, who scored 28 in 2001

The top scorer of the 2009 Brazilian Championship, Emperor Adriano managed, in six months at the club, to equal Renato's feat of 2006 goals in a season in 19. This is the second-highest total by a single player for Flamengo in this decade. He trailed only Edilson, who scored 28 times in 2001. It's worth noting that Flamengo's top scorer in the 2000s, overall, was Obina, who found the net 47 times.

Adriano's return to Flamengo was crucial to the club's sixth Brazilian championship title, which they won on December 6th with a 2-1 victory over Grêmio. The Emperor was one of the biggest names in the team's run and played a decisive role in several matches throughout the competition. For this reason, the Emperor has already made history at the club.

In addition to equaling Renato's tally in the 2006 season, he was the third Rubro-Negro player to top score in the Brazilian Championship. He matched Zico's feats in 1980 and 1982 (with 21 and 20 goals, respectively), and Nunes's in 1981 (with 16 goals). Of the 58 goals scored by Rubro-Negro players in 2009, the striker was on the field when 46 of them occurred and participated in no less than 70% of them. In absolute terms, counting all goals, his contribution is also significant: 55% of the goals were scored by their biggest star.

The Emperor returned to Flamengo to smile again, but he did much more than that: he also put smiles on the faces of the 35 million passionate Flamengo fans, who celebrated his goals and the Brazilian title.

Adriano's goals: Flamengo 2 x 1 Atlético-PR (1 goal), Flamengo 4 x 0 Inter (3 goals), Flamengo 2 x 2 São Paulo (1 goal), Flamengo 1 x 2 Palmeiras (1 goal), Flamengo 2 x 2 Botafogo (1 goal), Flamengo 2 x 1 Santos (1 goal), Goiás 3 x 2 Flamengo (1 goal), Flamengo 1 x 0 Corinthians (1 goal), Flamengo 3 x 0 Sport (2 goals), Flamengo 3 x 0 Coritiba (1 goal), Flamengo 2 x 0 Fluminense (2 goals), Flamengo 1 x 0 Botafogo (1 goal), Flamengo 1 x 0 Santos (1 goal), Flamengo 3x1 Atlético Mineiro (1 goal), Flamengo 2 x 0 Náutico (1 goal).
