Technical committee preferred to save athlete for semifinal

Flamengo will have another absence for this Sunday's 19:30 p.m. match against Boavista in the seventh and final round of the Guanabara Cup qualifying round. Adriano, who felt pain in his left foot earlier in the day, will not be in the squad that takes the field at Raulino de Oliveira Stadium in Volta Redonda.

The Technical Committee opted to rest the Imperador, with an eye on the decisive semifinal match of the tournament. The date could be Saturday or Wednesday, depending on the group standings. The opponent is expected to be Botafogo or Vasco, with a more remote chance of Madureira. More information will be available at the end of this round.

Andrade hasn't yet announced who will replace Adriano, but Gil or Denis Marques are likely to get a chance. The lineup is expected to be: Bruno, Léo Moura, Álvaro, Fabrício, and Juan; Lenon, Fernando, Kleberson, and Vinícius Pacheco; Gil (Denis Marques), and Mezenga.
