After Thursday afternoon's tactical training session at CT Ninho do Urubu in Vargem Grande, striker Adriano said Flamengo shouldn't be focusing on the match between leaders São Paulo and Botafogo, which could help the red-and-black team take over first place in the Brazilian Championship. For the number 10, the important thing right now is for the Gávea Club to focus solely on its opponent, as Goiás boasts some great players and will want to take points off Flamengo at the Maracanã.
"We can't keep thinking about São Paulo. We have to keep working hard to get a win on Sunday. There's no point in Botafogo winning if we don't do our part. I believe it will be a very difficult match for them at the Engenhão, which is why it's important for us to play well against Goiás."
Adriano praised Flamengo's campaign in this Brazilian Championship and said he dreams of winning the sixth title.
"It's gratifying and an honor to be in this position. No one believed in Flamengo, and we proved on the field that the team is strong. We managed to establish ourselves in the top four and now we're in the fight for the title. Because of everything I've experienced, my journey, the difficulties I've faced, I'm sure that the Brazilian title would be my peak."
