Sent off for the second time this year, defender Alvaro was tried this Tuesday by the Rio de Janeiro Court of Justice (TJD-RJ) for the red card he received in the derby against Fluminense for the Guanabara Cup. The Flamengo defender was warned but acquitted by a majority vote of the Second Disciplinary Committee auditors. In other words, the player is cleared to take the field in coach Andrade's team's first match in the Rio Cup, the second round of the Campeonato Carioca, on Saturday against Macaé in Volta Redonda.

In his first expulsion of the year, in the match against Duque de Caxias, Álvaro was suspended for one match for a violent play. Now, Álvaro has retracted his sentence for committing an unfair or hostile act, as stipulated in article 250 of the new Brazilian Code of Sports Justice (CBJD). The penalty could have been a one- to three-game suspension, but Flamengo's lawyer, Michel Asseff Filho, claimed that the play that resulted in the player's first yellow card did not even involve a foul, as he said was demonstrated in the video evidence he presented to the auditors.

Regarding the second yellow card, he said the incident was also debatable. Therefore, he requested his acquittal. Subsequently, four auditors voted for the warning, while only one acquitted him.
