Despite playing a little below expectations, Flamengo took the lead in the Taça Rio, the second round of the Campeonato Carioca, by beating Madureira 2-0 on Wednesday night (03.03). And coach Andrade, despite lamenting the team's "lackluster" performance in the first half, celebrated the three points won at Maracanã.

According to him, the team dominated the match from the moment the ball rolled and that was enough to take first place in their group.

\

"We controlled the game, even though we weren't playing as well as we could have. We always had control of the game, and the opponent didn't threaten us. Unfortunately, we ended up relaxing a bit in the first half. We improved in the second half, and that was enough. What matters is the result. We needed it, even more so after Boavista won their game. We got the three points and the lead," he said.

The coach highlighted some positive points, such as the positioning of the defense, which for the first time in the Campeonato Carioca did not concede goals.

\

"It was worth the result. On a night like that, 2-0 is a rout. And while there weren't many positives, it's worth noting that it was the first game the defense didn't concede a goal in the Carioca Championship. In the second half, the team improved and focused, but Madureira also got better. That's what ended up making the match a little more difficult," he analyzed.

Next Saturday, the red-black team faces Resende, at 19:30 pm, in Volta Redonda.
