Andrade guarantees: “We will fight for the title”
The red-and-black coach is confident the team will make a comeback in the second half of the Brazilian Championship.
By Flamengo Archive - inAfter this afternoon's training session at Gávea, Flamengo coach Andrade assured that Flamengo will fight for the top spots in the Brazilian Championship. The coach is confident the team will make a comeback in the second half of the competition.
"We set a goal of finishing the first half of the season with 30 points. Unfortunately, it didn't happen, but we won't be discouraged. Our first goal is to reach the top four. Then we can focus on the title. If we win four or five games in a row, we'll be right up there, so I'm not ruling out a sixth title. We have what it takes to fight for the top spots."
The coach has lost another player for Thursday's match against Cruzeiro. Suspended midfielder Willians will miss the match against the Minas Gerais team. Rômulo could get a chance.
"Rômulo is a player who helped us a lot in 2007 and could be important now. We lost an important player in Willians, but we can't dwell on it. We have to find a solution. Tomorrow I'll conduct some tests and determine what's best for the team. There's the possibility of playing three center-backs or moving Airton forward to the second midfield role."
