The speculation is over, and Andrade has finally renewed his contract with Flamengo for the 2010 season. Without further ado, the coach is already looking forward to working with the club's board for next season. Having won six Brazilian championship titles, the coach wants to continue making history at the club, repeating the steps he took while still on the field. His biggest goal for next season, therefore, is the Copa Libertadores.

To secure the international title, in addition to aiming for a fourth Rio de Janeiro championship and a second Brazilian championship, Andrade is available even during the festive season to work with the board on contract renewals and potential signings for next season. The coach knows the team needs a few players for the important commitments it will face in the coming year.

"Everything ended well. Now, we're just thinking about 2010. Let's see what the club can do in terms of signings. We'll be competing in important competitions," he said in a press conference held shortly after signing the contract.

According to Marcos Braz, Wednesday's meeting was only intended to determine the coach's rewards for any new achievements. The manager explained that the agreement was not finalized earlier due to financial disagreements, but emphasized that, despite this, the good relationship between the coaching staff and the board will continue into next season.

"After a long discussion, all the rough edges were ironed out. I had one last conversation with Andrade, which wasn't just between former athletes. What remained was the club's financial situation. He understood that. I'm a professional, we have a good relationship and will continue to do so. If it weren't like that, he wouldn't have stayed. There are phases in life, like a relationship, a marriage. But I respect him as an idol and as the honest and upright professional he's always been," he explained.

Andrade echoed the vice president's words. The coach emphasized that discussions in this type of negotiation are normal, but that none of this will disrupt the structure that worked at the end of 2009. The idea is to repeat the good work and positive results next year.

"It's normal to argue. Sometimes he has one idea and I have a different one. He supports the club's side, and I see my side too. But in the end, everything worked out. He was the one who gave me the opportunity; I'll never be ungrateful. In the end, it turned out the way I expected and within Flamengo's reality. This setback was a bit stressful, but in the end, everything was resolved," the coach added.

In addition to the renewal with Andrade and assistant coach Marcelo Salles, Flamengo's coaching staff will have a new addition in 2010. Former defender and coach of the youth team, as well as the U-20 team, Rogério Lourenço, will be part of the group, as a kind of bridge between the professional and youth teams.
