By From the team at Flamengo's official website - inBesides securing first place in the Taça Rio qualifying round, Flamengo's reserve team's victory over Friburguense also served to demonstrate to coach Andrade the strength of his players. According to him, the team's strong performance proves that the red-and-black squad can be relied upon whenever necessary.
Some players who took the field this Sunday made their starting debuts, such as Michael and Gil. Others, like Rômulo and Wellinton, hadn't played in a long time, and youngsters Camacho and Galhardo had new opportunities to showcase their talent.
"It was an important game to observe these players who haven't been playing, like Michael, who had a good game. It served to show that I have a strong squad ready for when I need it," the coach analyzed.
One of the athletes who celebrated this opportunity was Chilean Fierro. With his World Cup appearance in the middle of the year ever closer, he believes every opportunity to showcase his talent is worthwhile.
"Andrade gave us the opportunity and I was very happy to play. The team played well and got the win, that was very important," he concluded.
