Andrade vetoes the hype

"Flamengo has never been an underdog, and it's not the favorite now either. Let's take it one step at a time, because we haven't reached our goal yet."

After Tuesday morning's training session in Gávea, coach Andrade said that Flamengo's good form in the Brazilian Championship isn't a reason to get carried away. According to the coach, the team hasn't yet achieved its goal in the competition.

"Flamengo has never been an underdog, and they're not the favorite now either. We're still fighting for a spot in the top four, but we're not there yet. By beating Palmeiras, we might have that chance. Skill and luck go hand in hand. But the title is still a long way off. Let's take it one step at a time. We could be in the top four on Monday, but it's a thankless task. Let's continue with our determination."

Andrade was full of praise for the Palmeiras team, but stated that the red-black team is prepared to achieve a victory in São Paulo.

"Palmeiras is tough to beat at home, just like Grêmio. At the Olímpico, we could have killed the game in the first half, but we were thrashed. We're in a good spot; anything is possible. We respect Palmeiras; they're the favorites for the title, but we can win there."
