In an interview, the defender talks about the excitement of welcoming Flamengo to his city

In an interview with the official website, the idol spoke a little about his retirement, his 2009 goal, and the excitement of seeing the Sacred Mantle up close again.

You're passionate about Flamengo, just like the people in the region. How do you think you've helped maintain this passion?

Angelim: I think this has more to do with Zico and Flamengo's history, for sure. I was able to play for six years, and I believe the younger fans like us because we did a great job. And regardless of who wins, Flamengo's fan base in the Northeast is huge. There was a game nearby, and everyone went. Here in Juazeiro, we have a lot of Flamengo fans.

It's impossible to talk about Ronaldo Angelim and not remember that goal from 2009. From the images from the time, we can see that there's a mix of wanting to run, celebrating... Was that emotion unique in your life or can you feel it again?

Angelim: I certainly won't live like that again. Because that was the most important goal of my career, and the Maracanã was packed, so when I scored, if I had run anywhere, it would have been unfair to the fans. So there wasn't much I could do... I ran out screaming, celebrating... I'm not playing soccer anymore, so I have no way to live.

Seeing Flamengo on the field, do you want to come in and play too?

Angelim: I miss it, that's undeniable. When you see Flamengo playing in a packed stadium, you remember when you played, when it was competitive. But I prepared myself to stop playing. Everyone knows that if a soccer player doesn't prepare and organize themselves... they end up in trouble. Not me! I prepared myself and always kept a clear head. And I come here to the Northeast games to quell the nostalgia.
