Many Flamengo fans don't know, but defender Ronaldo Angelim, who excelled at Fortaleza, also played for Ceará, winning the Ceará state championship in 1999 with "Vozão." But it was with Tricolor that "Magro de Aço" (Skinny Steel) really stood out, winning state titles in 2001, 2003, 2004, and 2005, and gaining a stronger fan following.
In the clashes against Flamengo next Saturday (August 14.08), when he was wearing the Fortaleza jersey, he says he won more than he lost. Now, incredibly, despite having spent four seasons at Gávea, the player will play his first match against Ceará in the red-and-black jersey. And he hopes, of course, to maintain his good record.
"I've played against Ceará a lot when I was with Fortaleza, and I've won more than I've lost. I won four state titles in the five years I played for Fortaleza, but I know the greatness of Ceará and everything the club represents. It's going to be a special game, for sure. It's a big match for me, and I hope our team comes out with the victory," he said.
The defender praised the Ceará defense, which is the best in the championship with six goals conceded, the goalkeeper and former teammate Diego, and revealed the expectation for a great clash at the weekend.
"It's going to be a very good match. Ceará's defense has great numbers, Diego is a former teammate and a very talented goalkeeper, the team is strong and it's definitely going to be a great game," he added.
