In its match against Universidad de Chile, Flamengo got a glimpse of just how passionate Chileans are about soccer. The home team's fans packed the stadium, even after the earthquakes that shocked the country, and didn't stop singing for a second. Expectations are high that this will happen again against Universidad Católica, and defender Ronaldo Angelim believes Flamengo can't afford to be intimidated.

According to him, the team needs to be smart to outplay the opponent on the field and keep the fans as quiet as possible in the stands. The recipe for this has two fundamental ingredients: patience and decisiveness.

"We know there will be pressure, they need to win, and it's up to us to prepare well, calm the game, and contain their fans. The best way to do that is to create good scoring chances and try to get ahead on the scoreboard," said the defender.

Angelim didn't start the match against the Chileans at Maracanã, in the first round of the Copa Libertadores, but even so, he paid close attention to the opponents' football on Wednesday.

"It was a difficult game. We lost a player very early on and faced a lot of difficulties. But we scored an important goal from a free kick, the team started playing on the counterattack and got the win. They're a team that shoots a lot, and since the pitches there are small, they'll use that technique a lot. We have to reduce the space to avoid being caught out," he added.
