Angelim wants victory in "Brazil's biggest classic"

A positive result is good for the club and also for the defender to be able to show off with his family.

Mr. Antônio better watch out. He certainly taught his son a passion for soccer, as well as a hard-working and humble instinct. However, when it comes to his favorite team, Ronaldo Angelim doesn't take after his father. Fortunately for Flamengo fans, the defender, hero of last year's sixth national championship, opted for the "Mais Querido" over Vasco, and so, next Sunday (August 01.08st), he'll try not to bring Mr. Antônio any joy.

"Expectations are high for this game. We need a win, and there's nothing better than winning Brazil's biggest derby to give us some peace of mind in the competition. In the region where I grew up, this is the big derby. My father is also a Vasco fan, so it's always special for me to beat Vasco because I get to play with him a bit," he said.

The number 4, however, knows the match won't be easy, especially if Vasco can count on the recent signings it made for its attack.

"They're good players, they'll really strengthen Vasco's team, and we have to pay special attention to this team, which has great athletes. But we'll try to play a good game, neutralize Vasco's strengths, and come away with the win," said Angelim, who is rooting for a red-and-black victory to make the fans happy at Maracanã.

"We know it's a classic, that they're our biggest rival, and by winning this game we'll gain morale, the fans will be happy, and, consequently, we'll have more peace of mind to work. This is our goal," he added.
