Despite the absences, players are betting on the strength of the squad

The red-black team must face Volta Redonda again with many reserve players.

Shortly after the match between Flamengo and Duque de Caxias ended, coach Andrade expressed excitement at the prospect of potentially being able to count on three starters who missed the opening match of the 2010 State Championship. Adriano, Vagner Love, and Ronaldo Angelim were expected to make their debuts this season. However, the first two are practically ruled out, as are Willians, who is injured, and Alvaro, who is suspended.

Therefore, the team is expected to be filled with reserve players again in Wednesday's match against Volta Redonda. However, this doesn't bother the Flamengo players much. Quite the opposite. Midfielder Kleberson, for example, believes this is a good opportunity for everyone to showcase their skills and encourages a healthy fight for a spot in the starting eleven. For the number 15, Flamengo's squad has qualified players in all positions, and even with a mixed team, it can achieve good results at the start of the Taça Guanabara.

"Flamengo's squad grew significantly in the final stretch of last year's Brazilian Championship. They have very high-quality players, and even with some absences, I believe the team can achieve good results. They still need to overcome the lack of cohesion, but the squad is strong and of a high level, and this gives Andrade the peace of mind to field the best team," he analyzed.

Like Kleberson, defender Ronaldo Angelim brings a touch of experience to the red-and-black team. Returning to the field for his first game since the fateful victory against Grêmio, which gave Flamengo its sixth Brazilian championship, the defender also has nothing but praise for the red-and-black squad. According to him, the hard-fought victory against Duque de Caxias is proof of the Gávea team's quality.

\

"I think the team proved its strength in this first round. Even with some absences, they excelled, played with quality and determination, and won the game. The result was fair. Flamengo did what they had to do and came away with the victory. We lost three players, we've already signed two, other players came in from loan, and there should be more signings. The group has a lot of quality and I'm sure they'll fight for titles," said Angelim.

\

Both players also emphasize physical fitness. Kleberson, who stood out for his vigor in the match against Duque de Caxias, explains his strong performance despite being sidelined for nearly three months due to an injury in 2009. According to him, his physique and the intense preseason training have helped him significantly. Ronaldo Angelim, meanwhile, urges fans to remain calm and assures that the team will improve with each game.

\

"It's a matter of time. With each match, the team will improve. It's still early in the season, no one is 100%, the work is going very hard, but this is good for us to reap the rewards for the rest of the year," he concluded.
