Playing away from home, at the Pituaçu stadium, in Salvador, Mengão beat Bahia 5-3 on Wednesday night (02), in a match valid for the seventh round of the Brazilian Championship. The Rubro-Negro's goals were scored by Pedro (2), Arrascaeta (2) and Everton Ribeiro.
O JOGO
Flamengo started the match with a bang! Less than a minute in, Pedro received the ball at the edge of the box and passed it to Everton Ribeiro. The Flamengo captain took a shot, and the ball went just wide. Then, Bahia's defense misplayed the ball, and Pedro challenged the goalkeeper to open the scoring: 1-0, Mengão!
After the goal, the "Mais Querido" (Most Beloved) continued to pressure the Bahian team's attacking play and exchanged quality passes in the attacking half. In the 15th minute, Mengão scored the second! After a quick exchange of passes at the edge of the box, Pedro received the ball in the semi-circle and fired a low shot. The ball, capriciously, hit both posts before going in: 2-0. In the 31st minute, Bahia reduced the deficit with Rodriguinho. Gilberto crossed from the right and the midfielder finished first time: 2-1.
In the 37th minute, a masterpiece in Pituaçu! Flamengo's passing game reached Pedro in the box. The center forward backheeled the ball to Isla, who exchanged passes with Everton Ribeiro and crossed for Arrascaeta to score with a diving header: 3-1. Four minutes later, Bahia pulled one back through Élber: 3-2.
Early in the second half, another Flamengo masterpiece! Everton Ribeiro received the ball at the edge of the box, left Zeca in the lurch, and fired a shot over goalkeeper Anderson: 4-2. In the 5th minute, another Flamengo goal! After a one-two on the left, Arrascaeta passed to Pedro Rocha, who passed it back to the midfielder for the fifth and his second of the game: 5-2.
In the 18th minute, Mengão almost made it six! Pedro Rocha sprinted past Pedro, leaving Pedro in front of the goalkeeper. The striker chipped the ball, but the full-back cleared it off the line. From the 30th minute onward, with Domènec's substitutions, Flamengo slowed down the game, valuing possession. Late in the match, Bahia added their third. After a cross from the right, Marco Antônio won the ball in the air and laid it off for Daniel to fire in a beautiful shot: 5-3.
