After victory in the Guanabara Cup, Muricy aims for the Copa do Brasil

Flamengo and Confiança face each other this Wednesday, in Sergipe

Flamengo debuted with a victory in the Guanabara Cup this Sunday (12). The team defeated Madureira 1-0, with a penalty goal from Emerson, in a tight game, hampered by the heavy rain that fell in the first half. In the second half, the pitch conditions improved and the game became more open. Both teams created more chances and it was from a free kick inside the box, after a run by Gabriel, that the only goal of the match came.

Coach Muricy Ramalho gave a press conference at Raulino de Oliveira and spoke not only about the different times of the game but also about the entry of Alan Patrick and the debut in the Copa do Brasil, this Wednesday (16), at 21:45 pm, against Confiança, in Sergipe.

We're taking great care of him, as we are with Ederson. He's slowly returning. We included him (Alan Patrick). He had the flu and was struggling, but he came on and showed quality. The pitch improved in the second half, otherwise we wouldn't have risked him. He only lasted a short time, but he moved well.

I've been to Batistão (Flamengo vs. Confiança stadium, for their Copa do Brasil debut), and the stadium and pitch are very good. The only thing is that we're traveling and playing back-to-back matches, so we have to be careful with some players. We're going to lose Guerrero and Cuéllar, so we'll have to figure out what to do. We have information and images from the Confiança team; we hope to play well there. Since we're playing today on Saturday, near Rio, it makes our recovery easier. We have a day off tomorrow; we'll go full throttle on Wednesday, according to the doctors and team. We're doing it this way, and it's working.

Calendar
The problem at the beginning of the year is this tight schedule. As our infrastructure has improved significantly, our recovery is progressing well with the equipment and professionals we have at the training center. We're not doing anything to win, we're not exposing players.

Copa do Brasil
It's a different kind of championship; we'll face off against other states. That's what's great about the Copa do Brasil. It's important, it's interesting, we get to see players. We have a good team, a good squad, we're consistent. That's what we're looking for. A team with a unique way of playing, whether at home or away. We still have a lot to fix; it's the beginning of the season.
