There's been a lot of talk this week about the spirit of the Libertadores. And that's exactly what Vagner Love demonstrated on Wednesday night in Venezuela. With a lot of grit, love for the jersey, and of course, his signature goal-scoring instinct, the number 9 led Flamengo to its second victory in the Copa Libertadores. He scored two goals, made countless steals, and shed many, many drops of sweat.

At the end of the match, clearly exhausted, Vagner Love celebrated the result. According to him, this victory proves the strength of the red-and-black squad, which once again outdid itself despite a player being sent off (Toró received a red card eight minutes into the second half).

"Flamengo once again showed its strength. In the first game, we lost to Williams right at the start, and we won, today we lost to Toró, but we continued with great desire and got these three more points," he said.

If, as the saying goes, only those who take a penalty miss, Vagner Love showed character by converting the penalty awarded after defender Romero handballed it inside the Caracas penalty area. The number 9 missed a penalty in Flamengo's competition debut against Universidad Católica at the Maracanã stadium.

"I've been training a lot. I missed a penalty in the first Libertadores game, so I decided to train even harder so that when I get new opportunities, I can score goals," he explained.

The striker believes that the dedication of all the players was fundamental to this positive result, which leaves Flamengo at the top of Group 8 of the Copa Santander Libertadores.
