The current top scorer in the Campeonato Carioca, with 11 goals, Diego Carvalho is a key player on Flamengo's senior team, led by coach Cid Escarlate. The player, who began his career at age 8 with Grajaú Country, has played for other major Rio de Janeiro clubs, such as Fluminense and Vasco. However, from the age of 12 until now, at 22, Diego has played for the Gávea team.

For the striker, the pressure of representing a club as big as Flamengo is a positive. "Internally, the pressure is great and positive, especially since we're the current champions and have a real chance of winning this year. This pressure for titles is part of Flamengo's culture, and it's also a way to keep the project alive."

"It needs greater encouragement, including from the Federation itself and the press, with more broadcasts, more publicity, and more investment so the club can invest more in its players and championships."

Diego says the biggest gain from playing futsal is the dream of playing for Flamengo. "Many athletes dream of playing for this great team that moves an entire nation, and I can say that I'm privileged to do so, and even more so to win and make all the friends I've made here," declared the player, who claims his main goal in futsal is to win a title with national recognition and make it to the Brazilian national team, which is every athlete's dream.
