Anyone who watched the Flamengo-Botafogo game last Wednesday (July 14.07) will have noticed the movement Willians and Leonardo Moura made on the right side of the Flamengo attack. The full-back led many plays through the middle, while the defensive midfielder surprised with his attacks on the wing. A strategy by Rogério Lourenço to ensure his team is unpredictable on the field.
"We always need to create new ways of playing, because everyone knows everyone else these days. It's important to create these variations to surprise our opponents. This kind of thing has to happen, and we train for it," explained the coach.
Midfielder Willians spoke a little about his rapport with Leonardo Moura and also took the opportunity to praise the youth academy prospects who took on the responsibility of being Flamengo's starters and demonstrated their football.
"We understand each other very well back there. We were able to show that we have a strong right side. We rarely made mistakes against Botafogo, and thank God we came away with a victory at Maracanã. It's something that coach Rogério talked to us about and that also comes naturally. The boys are doing well. They're all men, and if they're here, it's because they have quality. The work they're doing is very good, and they're delivering," he said.
Correa, who is expected to start against Atlético-GO, points to another strong point in coach Rogério Lourenço's tactical scheme: speed. According to him, this weapon could be used extensively against the Goiás team, as Serra Dourada is a large stadium.
"We have fast players, we're going to play on a big pitch and we have to take advantage of that," he added.
