Work begins on preparing for the classic against Botafogo; Lucas Paquetá gives a press conference
By Matheus Oliveira - inClosing the participation in the group stage of the Guanabara Cup with another victory, this time 1-0 over Nova Iguaçu, this Tuesday (06) was the day of reappearance at Ninho do Urubu after a day off last Monday (05). In the resumption of work, the focus becomes the search for a place in the grand final of the first round of the State, which will be disputed in the confrontation against Botafogo.
The technical aspect received the main focus during the training sessions on Field 4. After pre-training activities at Flamengo's Performance Excellence Center (CEP FLA), the group proceeded to the field for a warm-up. The ball was then used in the exercises.
With a section of the field divided into four quadrants, ball maintenance, passing accuracy, and movement to create opportunities for teammates were improved in technical training, coordinated by coach Paulo César Carpegiani and his assistants Rodrigo Carpegiani and Maurício Barbieri. The defenders' interception and space-occupation skills were also worked on.
On the same pitch, the goalkeepers participated in strength training, using a traction device to increase the difficulty of the exercises. Led by coaches Rogério Maia and José Jober, Diego Alves again performed exercises involving falling. Subsequently, the goalkeepers participated in a reduced-field activity on Field 4.
At the end of training, midfielder Lucas Paquetá appeared in the Victorino Chermont Press Room to give a press conference. The young Rubro-Negro athlete commented on his performance in the victory against Volta Redonda, the beginning of his work alongside center forward Henrique Dourado and previewed the important clash on Saturday (10) against Botafogo, which will start at 16:30 pm.
