Defender Léo Pereira was invited to participate in the program “Resenha do Jogo”, on FlaTV, last Thursday (9), and spoke about his good performance with a goal and the victory in the classic. He also projected the next duel, against Volta Redonda, on Saturday (10). Check out some excerpts from the interview:
About victory
"Everyone who sees the game on paper sees a highly qualified, well-trained team. We players and fans have to understand that things won't always go the way they want, the way we want. We go out on the field to give our best, but there are days when we can't stop being quality; we have to be determined, right to the last minute. That's what Flamengo is all about, suffering until the end, and clearly, we can never stop believing and fighting for what we want. That's what happened on the field; the team fought until the end, and we managed to come away with the victory."
About the goal
"I thanked him (Ayrton Lucas) at the end of the game. If you look back, in the previous play, I asked for the ball to the far post because I saw I could have a header. The first time, it came a little short, and then the second time, he was very lucky with the cross."
Defensive consistency
“We always keep the system in good working order and we're always calling our teammates' attention to how we can maintain this level of excellence back there."
