Leonardo Moura, with Flamengo for five years, is more than accustomed to experiencing both great moments and difficulties wearing the red-and-black jersey. In all that time, he's battled relegation and been eliminated from the Libertadores, but he's also participated in unforgettable comebacks, winning a third Rio de Janeiro championship, a Brazilian championship he hadn't won in 17 years, and a Copa do Brasil title 16 years after his first.
This year, the team sits in an uncomfortable position in the standings, sitting only fifteenth, but Leo believes the team has the potential to turn this situation around before the end of the season. For the full-back, the team is already on the right track.
"The group wants to change the situation, win games. Today we played better, but unfortunately, the victory didn't come. Now it's time to think about Thursday's game, which is very important," he said.
The player did not want to get involved in controversies that come from outside the field of play and reaffirmed the red-blacks' desire to always play well and seek positive results when the ball rolls.
"I think the group has to step onto the field and do its job. We know that things outside have to be left to the people who are there to resolve. We just have to think about playing well and helping Flamengo," he added.
Flamengo will return at 15pm on Monday (04.10), at Ninho do Urubu, in Vargem Grande.
