The schedule of whoever is president of the most beloved club in the world is packed with commitments and... Eduardo Bandeira de Mello re-elected He didn't have time to rest after the elections, which ended in the early hours of Tuesday (December 08.12th) at the Gávea headquarters. The Flamengo president was a guest on the Seleção SporTV program, which aired live this afternoon, and already spoke about the tasks for the next three years in charge of Flamengo.
The hiring of coach Muricy Ramalho, who will be officially presented tonight, was one of the topics discussed by journalists, as well as the Flamengo squad, away games, and the Primeira Liga.

Muricy Ramalho
- He has a work style that we like, versatile. Muricy brings together several interesting characteristics; he doesn't become complacent, even after achieving everything he has. He has intellectual curiosity, seeks to develop himself, is approachable, and enthusiastic about new work technologies. Managing Flamengo is a privilege, but also a very big responsibility.
Coaches at Flamengo
- The pressure exerted on the coach's work sometimes ends up contaminating the squad. We intend for it to be different now. We recognize that the best way to deal with this isn't to change coaches all the time. But in many situations (in the last three years) it was inevitable. We will do everything to prevent that from happening with Muricy, especially because, given his history, we believe he is less susceptible to the kind of onslaught that, for example, Cristóvão Borges suffered. I believe that everyone around us – fans, press – also needs to have a little more patience and understand that long-term work is what leads us to a better situation.
Football department
- No one has ever interfered in Flamengo's football department. What exists at Flamengo, and not only in football but in the club as a whole, are thematic committees for finance, marketing and communication, Olympic sports, as happens in many public limited companies. Rodrigo Caetano (the club's executive director of football) has autonomy in football and I rate his work as very good.
Muricy's motivation
- I think the most qualified person to talk about this is Muricy himself. But to give you a heads-up, I think he bought into the idea, he understood that the people managing Flamengo today represent a new mentality. He saw everything that was done at the club in terms of regaining credibility. I believe he feels he's dealing with people he can trust. But Flamengo is Flamengo. I'm biased because I've been enchanted with Flamengo for over 60 years. Now he'll be able to experience that enchantment too.
Red-black cast
- Muricy will set the tone for our search for reinforcements. Our squad isn't bad, if we look at it on paper and compare it to the clubs ahead of us in the Brasileirão standings. I think there was a lot of instability in our team. Those six wins were followed by another series of losses, in games where we had everything to win. We won difficult games, we lost theoretically easier games. There are pressure factors, the psychological factor, our training center is far from what we would like it to be – which will be remedied in 2016 – perhaps even the club's political climate, with the elections, may have influenced it. Games outside of Rio
"This is done in advance. Of course, the financial aspect is relevant, but I don't see anything wrong with playing in Brasília, where we practically play with the entire stadium cheering for Flamengo. This year, if we analyze it, we also had a worse performance at the Maracanã than away from it. We lost the game against Coritiba because we conceded two goals and couldn't react. At the Arena das Dunas, we also played a game outside of Rio de Janeiro, and the result was one of the victories in that series of six consecutive wins. To pay our payroll, we need away games. When we plan this in advance, we project how much we would earn at the Maracanã or by selling the match abroad. Throughout Brazil, 24 of the 27 states have a majority of Flamengo fans, who love Flamengo as much as I do. If we can serve these people and still have a financial gain, why not?"

- We can do it in 2016 in an experimental format. We already have five dates. I don't think it will interfere with the rest of the Brazilian calendar, it will only add value. For 2017, we can do something more organized. The clubs will finance it, with television rights and ticket sales.
