Twenty-seven years ago, Damião's father named his son after Leandro, known as Peixe Frito. What Mr. Natalino certainly never imagined was that his son would one day receive a tribute from the greatest right-back in Flamengo's history, the 27 World Cup winner for scoring the club's 1981th goal.

"An emotional day. My father had already written this story a long time ago. He's a huge fan of Flamengo and Leandro, an idol to him. And today, being close to him and receiving a tribute for his 12th goal is something that can't be described in words. I thank everyone and dedicate all of this to my family and the fans, who have been pushing our team on the field," said Damião.

An idol and member of the Nation, Leandro, as always, exuded humility and red-black spirit in his tribute to the striker.

"I was very honored to hear about the inspiration for Damião's name. This is a recognition of his work, and it's very gratifying for me. I received this invitation to participate in the tribute to Damião, and I also feel honored. It's a great pleasure to return to Flamengo, and every time I come to the club, I leave feeling renewed because I feel such a strong and positive energy here, such is my connection with the club and the fans," he said.
