As the year draws to a close, it's natural for speculation about reinforcements and layoffs at soccer teams to increase. And in this time of restructuring, even some players who don't have much of a chance of leaving become the subject of fans' doubts. This is the case with 23-year-old defender David Braz, who renewed his contract with Flamengo midway through this season until 2014.

Much loved by the red-and-black fans, David has nearly 28 followers on his Twitter profile. All of them are urging the defender to stay and asking if there's a chance he'll leave the club. Good-natured as always, he gives the answer: they'll have to put up with him until 2014.

"Don't worry, because my contract with Mengão runs until 2014. You'll have to put up with me for a little over three more years (laughs)," he assured.

In an interview with the official website, the defender promised to continue doing everything he could to please the fans, with a lot of determination on the field. One of the heroes of the sixth championship in 2009, he dreams of more titles next year.

"I will always give my all on the field to help Flamengo and this wonderful fan base, who has always shown me so much affection. I appreciate everyone's support and messages, and I hope I can repay them not only with attention, but also with titles," he added.

David Braz de Oliveira Filho made his Flamengo debut on August 9, 2009, with a bang: a 1-0 victory over Corinthians. In total, he has played 42 games for Flamengo, scoring three goals.
