Medical Bulletin: Fabrício Bruno
By Flamengo Regatta Club - inClube de Regatas do Flamengo informs that athlete Fabrício Bruno underwent surgery last Sunday (15) to remove a bone fragment from his left foot. The procedure was performed at Hospital Copa Star by doctor Verônica Vianna and accompanied by Dr. Márcio Tannure.
Orthopedist specializing in foot and ankle surgery, Verônica Vianna explained the procedure performed on the athlete and highlighted the results during conservative treatment:
"Fabrício Bruno suffered a very significant injury to the ligament in his big toe (hallux). It's a serious and rare injury. However, he met the criteria for conservative treatment. The injury was grade two to three, but stable, which didn't indicate surgery. This was the decision of Flamengo's Medical Department, and one I agreed with throughout the evaluations. During the treatment, he developed another point of pain, this time on top of his big toe. We performed a new examination and found that the torn ligament on the sole of his foot was fully healing and clearly improving. His pain was related to the small bone fragment we observed. We then performed surgical resection to eliminate the factor responsible for this pain and to avoid compromising his recovery. Fabrício no longer has pain in the ligament, was discharged, and will continue treatment," explained the doctor.
Flamengo's Health and High Performance Manager, Dr. Márcio Tannure, added and informed the new steps in the recovery of the red-black athlete.
"Fabrício will remain at home during the week and will return to the club for physiotherapy work next Monday (23). The timeframe for him to return to Flamengo's games is estimated at around two months, which is in line with what was predicted even before the surgery. The treatment has progressed as all the tests have shown and we are now entering the final stage of the serious problem he suffered", he concluded.
