A standout player in Flamengo's U-23 Cup campaign, Colombian striker Cristian Borja is back with the first team. The player, who scored four goals in the last competition he played for the under-23 team, hopes to repeat this success now that he is more adapted to Flamengo's professional squad.
The striker, along with midfielder Antônio and attacking midfielder Saba, returned to training with the first team this Tuesday at Ninho do Urubu, and is already focused on Sunday's derby at 18:30 pm at Engenhão. Happy with his participation in the under-23 team, Borja is excited about this return to the professional squad.
"For me, it was great to participate in the under-23 team, and now I'm back with the main team to work hard and look for a place, to earn an opportunity," he said.
Interestingly, if he's selected for the match, the number 37 shirt will face an opponent against whom he could have made history at Flamengo. In the first-round derby, he almost scored the winning goal for Flamengo. Now, he hopes, if given the chance, to put the ball in the net and impress the new coach, Vanderlei Luxemburgo.
"Unfortunately, that goal didn't come, but now it's time to work. I'm coming back now, my first day was today, with a new coach, I have to show what I can do and continue to trust in my football," he concluded.
