Borja gets a spot on the team this Friday

The Colombian trains as a starter alongside Val Baiano. Diego Maurício and Pacheco are among the reserves.

Petkovic's absence from training on Thursday (July 29.07) led coach Rogério Lourenço to test Cristian Borja in the starting lineup, forming the attacking duo alongside Val Baiano and with Vinícius Pacheco, who had been training as a starter in attack, further back, playing as a midfielder, in the Serbian's position. It seemed that with Petkovic's return, Pacheco would return to the attack and Borja would be on the bench.

But this Friday (July 30.07th) that's not what coach Rogério Lourenço did at Gávea. The red-black commander held a collective training session and the starting team was formed by Marcelo Lomba, Leonardo Moura, Jean, Ronaldo Angelim and Juan; Correa, Willians, Kleberson and Petkovic; Cristian Borja and Val Baiano. The reserves trained with Paulo Victor, Everton Silva, Fabrício, Welinton and Rodrigo Alvim; Antônio, Fernando, Maldonado and Michael; Vinícius Pacheco and Diego Maurício.

Rômulo, Lenon, Camacho, Marquinhos, Thiago Sales, Medeiros, Saba, and David underwent movement training with physical trainer Diogo Linhares. Toró, meanwhile, is still recovering from a fractured left hand and walked laps around the pitch. On Sunday (August 01.08), Flamengo faces Vasco da Gama in a classic match valid for the 12th round of the Brazilian Championship.
