Borja says he is calm for the classic
The Colombian is expected to start in Sunday's match against Vasco and guarantees he is ready
By From the team at Flamengo's official website - inColombian Cristian Borja could be another new addition to Flamengo's squad for Sunday's (August 01.08st) derby against Vasco at the Maracanã. Alongside Val Baiano, who will also be making his first start for the Rubro-Negro, Cristian trained with the starting eleven and is expected to start. At 22, the young player has already had a few opportunities as a substitute in recent games and, despite everything involving Flamengo and Vasco, says he is comfortable competing in the Clássico dos Milhões.
\Although happy with his starting spot, Borja knows Rogério Lourenço could still make changes to the team before the ball rolls. Therefore, he remains cautious and says he's ready to start on Sunday.
\"I'm working towards that. He hasn't decided on the team yet, but if he puts me in, I want to play well. It's good to be recommended by the coach. I've worked towards that, and if I start, it will be great," he said.
\A man of few words, the Colombian is aware that the fans will demand a lot of commitment and goals in the match against Vasco. Even so, he assures that he's not nervous.
\"I'm not usually a talker. It'll be calm, normal. I know it's an important game. I've played in classics before. Not the size of Vasco and Flamengo. That's what motivates you most in football. There's pressure everywhere, and here I know it's going to be huge, but I'll try to do my best," he added.
