Argentine Darío Bottinelli will celebrate his 24th birthday, Sunday (December 26.12th), already as a Flamengo player. The midfielder, whose rights are held by Atlas, from Mexico, and who was on loan to Universidad Católica, from Chile, arrives at Gávea to fill a position considered lacking in the squad. The Argentine will stay at the club for two years, with the possibility of extending the contract for another two years.
A playmaker, his main characteristics are his playmaking and finishing ability. Considered one of the best players in the Chilean Championship by the local press, "El Pollo" arrives with high expectations surrounding his footballing talent.
"This is a very important opportunity in my career. Everyone wants to play for the biggest club in Brazil and one of the biggest in the world. I know the responsibility I will have in defending this jersey. That's very important. But I want to make it clear that my goal is to win titles for Flamengo," said Bottinelli at his presentation.
The Argentinian midfielder also said that he is not afraid of any kind of pressure when he has to wear the sacred jersey. After all, he trusts in his potential.
"I've played for great teams in Argentina and Chile. The pressure doesn't bother me. I'm used to it. Playing for big teams, with history, motivates any athlete," he concluded.
Bottinelli began his career at San Lorenzo in Argentina, where he played from 2005 to 2007, making 36 appearances and scoring three goals. The following year, he went to Racing, but failed to establish himself and ended up transferring to Chilean football. At Universidad Católica, he stood out in 2008, scoring eight goals in 14 matches, which earned him another international transfer. In Mexico, he played for Atlas from 2008 to 2010. He made 51 appearances and scored 11 goals before being loaned back to Católica this year, where he scored three goals in 10 matches.
