The Flamengo delegation in Londrina will have a reinforcement this Wednesday (January 04.01th). Argentine midfielder Darío Bottinelli was in Argentina resolving documentation issues until Tuesday night (January 03.01rd), when he returned to Rio. Today, he will obtain his work visa for the country and thus be free to join his new teammates. "El Pollo," as he is nicknamed in his country, signed a two-year contract with Flamengo.
The midfielder is very excited about the opportunity and can't wait to wear the red-and-black jersey. Aware of the high pressure of representing Flamengo, Darío believes he can make the most of his chance with the club.
"This is a very important opportunity in my career. Everyone wants to play for the biggest club in Brazil and one of the biggest in the world. I know the responsibility I will have in defending this jersey. That's very important. But I want to make it clear that my goal is to win titles for Flamengo," he stated at his presentation.
Bottinelli began his career at San Lorenzo in Argentina, where he played from 2005 to 2007, making 36 appearances and scoring three goals. The following year, he went to Racing, but failed to establish himself and ended up transferring to Chilean football. At Universidad Católica, he stood out in 2008, scoring eight goals in 14 matches, which earned him another international transfer. In Mexico, he played for Atlas from 2008 to 2010. He made 51 appearances and scored 11 goals before being loaned back to Católica this year, scoring three goals in 10 matches.
