With goalkeeper Bruno's contract suspended, the Flamengo captaincy position is now open. There's no shortage of candidates: Petkovic, Leonardo Moura, Juan, Ronaldo Angelim... And perhaps for this reason, coach Rogério Lourenço hasn't yet decided who will wear the armband for Brazilian Championship matches in the second half of the year.

"Adriano and Pet were captains, and so was Léo, but these changes happen. It's not possible to get everything right overnight. We have to be prepared for this change. I have players with the profile to fulfill this role. They need to have leadership skills, charisma within the group, and when they speak, they're listened to. That's important. But the responsibility on the field is shared by everyone," he said.

The most experienced player in the group, at 38 years old, Petkovic knows that the responsibility is great simply by wearing the Flamengo shirt, regardless of being captain.

"Flamengo has always had many leaders. It's never been just one or the other. It's always been like that when I played here. We have the privilege of being a competent club, and the responsibility will always be the same here," he added.

Next Wednesday (14.07), the Gávea team returns to play official games, against Botafogo, at 21 pm, at Maracanã, against Botafogo.
