In the month dedicated to the fight against violence against women, Flamengo enters the Maracanã stadium against Palmeiras tomorrow (8) wearing a different jersey. BRB, which has a business partnership with the Rio de Janeiro team, has donated its space on the official jersey to the Nós Por Elas Institute. The goal of the initiative is to help raise awareness about the importance of preventing and eradicating harmful acts against girls and women.
With the transfer of space, the BRB bank brand will occupy a smaller size on the red-and-black uniform.
BRB is the first bank to partner with the Nós Por Elas Institute, whose ambassador is former model and actress Luiza Brunet. This initiative is part of the financial institution's commitment to certification in Good Practices in Combating Violence Against Women, a process audited by the Brazilian Association of Technical Standards.
"We are committed to promoting awareness campaigns and reinforcing the importance of keeping women safe. It's important to recognize the gravity of this situation and work to create a safe environment," says BRB president Paulo Henrique Costa.
For the president of Nós Por Elas, Marcela Bocayuva, raising awareness among the male audience, using the football environment and the scope of game broadcasts, is very important for the campaign.
"It's crucial that domestic violence prevention and response strategies are recognized, ensuring victims have adequate support and protection, and that repression measures are implemented. Reaching homes through football is symbolic," says the institute's director.
About violence prevention
In 1999, the United Nations officially declared November 25th the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. Since then, the date has been used to raise awareness and combat violence against women worldwide, including physical, sexual, and psychological violence, among others.
Nós Por Elas was founded by women in 2021, based on a campaign to rescue Afghan women. During the pandemic, the Institute's founder, Judge Renata Gil, was responsible for the Red Signal Campaign, which became Federal Law, spearheaded by the Brazilian Magistrates Association and the National Council of Justice. The campaign encourages women victims of domestic violence to seek shelter in pharmacies, public institutions, bank branches, and commercial establishments with a red X on the palm of their hand.
