Bruno calls the fans
"I hope the fans turn out in force to support us right from the start. This has to be Flamengo's year," said the number 1.
By Flamengo Archive - inOne of the leaders of the current Flamengo squad, goalkeeper Bruno admits that he's highly anxious for the Rio de Janeiro State Championship opener on Sunday against Friburguense at the Maracanã stadium. Knowing the responsibility the Flamengo squad carries, as the two-time defending champion, Bruno is counting on the Flamengo fans' support to put on a great performance in the first game of the 2009 season.
"I hope the fans turn out in force to support us right from the start. We have to go all out, because first impressions are always lasting. This has to be Flamengo's year. We've maintained the core of the team and have a very strong squad. Our responsibility is great, but we have to face it. We're two-time champions and we're going for the third. I believe the four major Rio clubs are the favorites. But if we go into the matches focused, it will be very difficult to beat our team."
Bruno praised Cuca's work and said that Flamengo is coming into the Campeonato Carioca very strong.
"I sincerely expect a very strong Flamengo, dedicated and very combative. Cuca arrived and is doing a great job. The team has been performing very well in training sessions, with good plays on the wings, attacking when in possession and defending very strongly when attacked. Now it's time to put it into practice. We have everything we need to have a great campaign."
