By Flamengo Archive - inIn front of more than 30,000 fans, Flamengo gave Coronel Bolognesi no chance and won 2-0 on Wednesday night at the Maracanã. Goalkeeper Bruno scored his first goal in the red-and-black shirt from a free kick. The victory secured first place in Group 4 of the Copa Libertadores, with 13 points. The team from Gávea qualified with the second-best record in the first phase and awaits the results of the round to find out which opponent they will face in the round of 16.
The game started with Flamengo creating danger. Just four minutes in, Kleberson crossed and Marcinho headed the ball against the crossbar. Four minutes later, it was Souza's turn to try, but goalkeeper Penny made the save.
Playing quite defensively, Coronel Bolognesi made it difficult for Flamengo's attack. Even with control of the game, the red-and-black team had few shots on goal against the Peruvian side. At 23 minutes, Kleberson, one of the standouts in the first half, headed dangerously close to the goal.
In Flamengo's last good chance of the first half, Toró made a great effort, but Penny made another save.
Seeking victory, Joel made a change to the team for the second half, bringing on Diego Tardelli in place of Cristian. Even with the change, Flamengo showed no improvement, and the first good chance of the second half came for Coronel Bolognesi, with Ross, in the 23rd minute.
Immediately afterwards, Souza almost scored a spectacular goal. The number nine dribbled past the Peruvian defense, rounded the goalkeeper, but the defense cleared the ball before it went in. Joel made another change, taking off Toró and bringing on Obina.
At the 30-minute mark, Marcinho passed to Obina, whose shot was saved by Penny. Relief for Flamengo only came at the 38-minute mark. Bruno took a free kick with skill and opened the scoring at the Maracanã: 1-0 Flamengo. It was the goalkeeper's first goal in a Flamengo shirt.
Flamengo extended their lead in the 43rd minute. Marcinho made a good play down the right flank and crossed for Obina to finish: 2-0 Flamengo.
