Monday (06) was a very special chat on FlaTV with Bruno Spindel, executive director of football. The director spoke about several subjects, among them the search for renewal with coach Jorge Jesus, the suspension of the championships due to the coronavirus, the calendar and much more. 

Renewal with Jesus

"The relationship with him is the best possible. He's a great guy, very personable, fun, and lives football 24/XNUMX, which is what he loves. He constantly pushes for improvements, and this contributes greatly to taking Flamengo to another level. We're happy with him, and he's happy with Flamengo. The pandemic takes some of the focus off the renewal, but we hope everything works out. Obviously, we'll hope we win this fight against the coronavirus so he can continue. We hope everything works out."

Football calendar

"What we've been trying to do is be ready for when competitions return to normal. The athletes are following the schedule, we're monitoring from afar. They'll return safely, we're sure. Some steps have already been taken by Flamengo, Ferj, Conmebol, and FIFA to allow us to play all the championships. We've given everyone a 20-day vacation. The Carioca format will be maintained, as will the Brazilian Championship. The State Championship has less risk of contamination due to the travel."

Partnership with Vice President Marcos Braz

"We have a great rapport; we're together almost every day. Now, more so on the phone. Marcos has some different skills than I do. I'm on the business side of the business. He has a very keen understanding of the human and athletic side of athletes. We complement each other. We have great confidence in each other's abilities. This leads to good results for the club. I'm very happy with what we've achieved. There's still a lot to do, and we always want to win. We don't agree with the idea that Flamengo has reached the top. There's the Copa do Brasil, the World Cup, records... This group has a strong collective awareness that collective achievements are what bring individual benefits."

Work during quarantine

"We're all at home, quarantined to try to beat this pandemic. We wish everyone good health, which is the most important thing. We're holding our meetings via video and are confident that we'll come out of this strong. We can't wait to get back; as soon as possible, we want to fight for all the titles again."

Hiring is more difficult

"I think they all made us very proud. Each one had their own struggle, and they were all incredibly important. Pablo Marí, for example, convincing a Spaniard to play here... each one has a really cool story. What they all had in common was their desire to play for Flamengo. They all wanted to be here, to make a difference."
