Buck explains that Renato may be spared
Coach says player needs to readapt physically to perform at his best

Petkovic was rested last Sunday (September 05.09th) against Santos. Now, midweek, the one who may receive special attention from the coaching staff, especially from the physical training department, is Renato. Three years playing in the United Arab Emirates have left the player somewhat out of rhythm with Brazilian football and still far from his potential.
The player returned to Flamengo in early August and made his debut in a 1-0 victory against Ceará, but has yet to string together a string of standout performances upon his return to Flamengo. One reason for this may be his physical condition.
"Renato is feeling it, and we've put together a plan to push him to his limits. This is the most worrying part because he hasn't prepared and has been inactive for a long time. The biggest problem is when an athlete doesn't prepare and has to go into a game. Then, not only can he not cope, but he starts to be at risk of muscle injury. Anyone who isn't prepared will not be released from now on," explains coach Emerson Buck.
Newly signed Deivid, who played his first game against Santos, received praise from Buck, who stated that now, for the number 99, all that's left is to get back into the swing of things.
"Deivid trained in Türkiye, he was out for a few days to resolve personal issues. He needs to play. He'll only get back into rhythm by playing," he added.
