In another direct confrontation in the Brazilian Championship, Flamengo faces Atlético-MG, next Saturday (29). The game, valid for the 33rd round, will be held at Mineirão, in Belo Horizonte, at 16:30 pm (Brasília time). The teams are, respectively, in second (61 points) and third place (59 points) in the league table. On Paolo Guerrero's night, Flamengo defeated Atlético-MG 2-0 at Mineirão Stadium. With a beautiful first-time shot from Cirino and a perfect finish from Sheik, the Peruvian led Mengão to victory. The 2-0 victory in front of over 30 fans was also Muricy Ramalho's first victory as coach of the Rubro-Negro.

In the 2009 Brazilian Championship, Flamengo went to Mineirão and defeated Atlético-MG 3-1, just a few rounds before becoming their sixth national champion. Flamengo exploited counterattacks and surprised Atlético-MG in the first half. In the eighth minute, Petkovic scored with style and scored the second Olympic goal of that Brazilian Championship: 1-0 Flamengo. In the 39th minute, Maldonado received the ball at the edge of the box, dribbled past Werley, and slotted it past Carini to score his first goal for Flamengo and extend the lead to 2-0. In the 36th minute, Fierro received the ball on the right and crossed for Adriano to head in, tying Diego Tardelli for the competition's top scorer: 3-1 Flamengo.
