To get into the mood for the game, we decided to remember some notable clashes held in Rio de Janeiro. 

The first half at Maracanã started with many mistakes, but when Alison came out playing in a hasty way, Rubro-Negro opened the scoring amid mistakes and luck: Léo Moura looked for the pass to Carlos Eduardo, the ball deflected off Mena and went to Hernane; the center forward tried to dribble Aranha and ended up making a pass to the number 2 himself, who sent it to the net and scored after a year and five months. 

Santos came back stronger, but before they knew it, they were already trailing 2-0. In the ninth minute, Paulinho found Carlos Eduardo one-on-one with Aranha, leaving Hernane unmarked and in a legal position to score. With skill, Cícero displaced Paulo Victor and converted Samir's penalty on Everton Costa, reducing the deficit to 2-1 in the 12th minute.

Then, it was just a matter of buying the necessary time until the end.

The match improved, and in the 26th minute, Ibson failed to mark him, and Moraes shot straight at Bruno's legs. The midfielder had a chance to redeem himself soon after, but his shot went wide.

In the 29th minute, Leonardo Moura broke through on the right wing and passed to Juan. The full-back's shot was poor, but he scored the third. At that point, the match felt like a scrimmage. Juan moved to the right wing, and Santos almost pulled one back through Vítor Júnior, but Bruno made the save again. In the last minute, Moraes converted a penalty and reduced the deficit.

That day, Flamengo defeated Santos 3-0 at the Maracanã Stadium in a record-breaking attendance match in the history of the Brazilian Championship, with over 155 fans in attendance. Flamengo had lost the first leg of the 1983 final at Morumbi Stadium, 2-1, and needed to win in Rio de Janeiro. In the first minute of the match, Zico, who was leaving his first stint at Flamengo with his bags packed for Italy, opened the scoring. In the 39th minute, Leandro doubled the lead, and in the 44th minute, Adílio sealed the deal with a header, scoring the third goal. Flamengo thus secured its third Brazilian championship.

In 1979, the red-and-blacks witnessed two of the greatest players of all time play side by side wearing the Sacred Mantle. Zico and Pelé made that night historic for Mengão fans. Already 39 years old, Pelé put in a strong performance, despite not scoring a single goal. Zico, who wore the number 9 jersey—having given his new teammate the number 10—got his goal from the penalty spot in the 5-1 rout of Atlético-MG. The proceeds from the match, which reached CR$8.781.290,00 (approximately US$139.953 million) with a paying crowd of XNUMX, were donated to flood victims in Minas Gerais. On a team boasting great idols like Rondinelli, Júnior, and Andrade, King Pelé had no trouble adapting and sending the fans into a frenzy.
