Next Saturday (1), in a game valid for the 28th round of the Brazilian Championship, Flamengo will face São Paulo. The teams are, respectively, in second (53 points) and twelfth (34 points) places. The duel will be held at Morumbi, at 16 pm. To get into the mood for the game, the Official Website recalls some clashes.
#1 - Flamengo 2 X 1 Sao Paulo - 08/23/2015
In coach Oswaldo de Oliveira's debut, Flamengo defeated São Paulo 2-1 at the Maracanã Stadium. Despite the Red-Blacks starting behind, Ederson and Guerrero turned the score around, which had been opened by Luiz Eduardo.

The party was red and black on October 2, 2011. On the rainy afternoon that Luis Fabiano made his debut for São Paulo, Flamengo celebrated in a packed Morumbi Stadium. Rogério Ceni and Felipe were the standout performers with miraculous saves, but Flamengo took the points and reached its fourth game without a loss. With goals from Thiago Neves and Renato Abreu, Flamengo defeated the São Paulo team 2-1.

Flamengo defeated São Paulo in the 2001 Regional Champions Cup. In the first match, Mengão won 5-3 against their rivals, with goals from Edilson (2), Reinaldo, Beto and Rogério Pinheiro (own goal). In the second match, São Paulo won 3-2, but overall, the team that came out on top was the Mais Querido.

In a crucial match in the Federal District, the Rubro-Negro defeated São Paulo in a rematch of the previous year's World Cup final, when the Tricolor had defeated Flamengo 2-1. This time, the Mais Querido (Most Beloved) came out on top. With a goal from midfielder Iranildo, the team played a strong match and won the prestigious competition, organized by SBT.

#8 - Flamengo 3 X 1 Sao Paulo - 08/16/1996
The 1996 Gold Cup was the third and final edition of the official football competition organized by CONMEBOL. The tournament was hosted in Manaus, with all matches taking place at the Vivaldo Lima Stadium. The winner of the 1995 Supercopa Libertadores, Independiente, withdrew from the competition, being replaced by Flamengo. With the discontinuation of the Supercopa Master Cup, the other spot went to the winner of the CONMEBOL Master Cup, São Paulo. Interestingly, both substitute teams ended up playing in the Gold Cup final, with Flamengo crowned champion.
The SBT 15 Years Cup was played, as a tribute to the television station's anniversary, in a football match also valid for the decision of the 1996 South American Gold Cup. The game was held between Flamengo and São Paulo Futebol Clube, in the city of Manaus, Amazonas, on August 16, 1996. With this result, Flamengo was crowned champion of the Nicolás Leóz Gold Cup and also won the SBT 15 Years Cup.
The SBT 15 Years Cup was played, as a tribute to the television station's anniversary, in a football match also valid for the decision of the 1996 South American Gold Cup. #9 - Flamengo 1 X 0 Sao Paulo - 10/21/2012
After watching the relegation zone teams close in, Flamengo gave its fans a major relief this Sunday at the Engenhão stadium. In a match in which Felipe saved a penalty kick from Luis Fabiano and Chilean defender González scored his first goal for Flamengo, the "Mais Querido" defeated its rival 1-0, ending a five-game winless streak and moving a little further away from the bottom four of the Brazilian Championship.
