After this morning's tactical training session in Gávea, coach Caio Júnior guaranteed that Flamengo is still alive and motivated to seek a place in the 2009 Libertadores. According to the manager, the Brazilian Championship is still open.

"The lesson is that anything can happen in the championship. I secured my spot with Paraná at the last minute, because Vasco conceded a late goal in the match we were playing, and the result helped Paraná. We spent the entire championship relying on our own strengths. These spots that are at stake will be fought for until the final round. We have a chance, and we have to keep believing and working."

Caio Júnior praised the red-black campaign during the Brazilian Championship.

"The real analysis of the championship is that we always fought for the top spots, with the most positive attack, and always sought victories from start to finish. The most difficult moment of the year, when we lost players, was during the midweek games. And we also lost Tardelli, who showed his importance on Sunday."

The coach hopes to fulfill his dream of competing in the Copa Libertadores next year. In 2006, while managing Paraná, he qualified the team for the main South American competition, but ended up transferring to Palmeiras.

"The Libertadores is the most important competition because it gives you the chance to participate in the Club World Cup. Even though I've only had a short coaching career, I dream of becoming a world champion. One day I'll compete in the Libertadores, and I hope I can do it now."

Caio Júnior said he will wait for Airton and Léo Moura, who are experiencing knee pain and will be reevaluated. The coach is beginning to define the team that will face Goiás in tomorrow's training session.

"Airton trains tomorrow, when I hope to decide the team. Léo felt a problem with his knee; he might be better tomorrow. I still have to wait. I did some tests today and I'm sure we can play a great game on Sunday."

Caio Júnior criticized the attitude of Carlos Eugênio Simon, who stated that there was no penalty by Léo Fortunato on Diego Tardelli.

"The coach needs to set an example too and not act like I did on Sunday, taking the field. I did it out of common sense, trying to prevent the players from having a worse reaction to the referee. But Simon's most serious mistake, for me, was not owning up to it. We all make mistakes in life. Saying he saw the play and that it wasn't a penalty is enough to make you believe in nothing else in life."
